Illinois Department of Revenue Form CC-1 General Information What is the Cannabis Cultivation Privilege Tax? What if I fail to file or pay the amount I owe? The Cannabis Cultivation Privilege Tax is tax imposed on gross receipts of the first sale of adult use cannabis by a cultivator or craft grower for the privilege of cultivating cannabis. The Cannabis Cultivation Privilege Tax is authorized by the Cannabis Cultivation Privilege Tax Law (see 410 ILCS 705/60-1 et seq.). You owe a late-filing penalty if you do not file a processable return by the due date, a late-payment penalty if you do not pay the amount you owe by the payment’s due date, a bad check penalty if your remittance is not honored by your financial institution, and a cost of collection fee if you do not pay the amount you owe within 30 days of the date printed on a bill. Interest is calculated on tax from the day the payment was due through the date you pay the liability. We will bill you for penalty and interest. For more information, see Publication 103, Penalty and Interest for Illinois Taxes, which is available on our website at tax.illinois.gov. Who must file Form CC-1? About the Individual Income Tax

The IRS and most states collect a personal income tax, which is paid throughout the year via tax withholding or estimated income tax payments.

Most taxpayers are required to file a yearly income tax return in April to both the Internal Revenue Service and their state's revenue department, which will result in either a tax refund of excess withheld income or a tax payment if the withholding does not cover the taxpayer's entire liability. Every taxpayer's situation is different - please consult a CPA or licensed tax preparer to ensure that you are filing the correct tax forms!
